Eileen Agnes Wood ( nee Mc Intyre)
September 19, 1941 - December 27, 2025
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved, Eileen Agnes Wood
(nee Mc Intyre), who left us peacefully on December 27, 2025, at the age of 84, at Lakeridge
Health Ajax Hospital. Eileen was a devoted, caring and loving wife, mother and nana. She is
survived by her husband Victor Wood of 60 years of marriage, her son Andrew and wife
Christine, her daughter Siobhan, as well as her grandchildren Malcolm and Erin.
Eileen was born on September 19, 1941 to her parents in Donegal, Ireland. Her mother
was Cecilia Mc Intyre (Nee Duffy) and her father was Ignatius Mc Intyre who came from
Glasgow, Scotland originally. She was 1 of 7 siblings.
Her elder siblings were Mary, married to John Gallagher, both now deceased, Ignatius who is married to Briege and living in Carrowblagh, and Josephine whom is married to Richard Grainger living in Warrington. Her younger siblings are Danny living in London, his wife Mary has deceased recently, Thomas who is married to Janet and living in South Wales, and Ann who is living in Liverpool. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews in Donegal, Kerry, Clare, Spain, Warrington, Australia, London and Wales.
Eileen left home at 16 years old and started to study nursing with her sister in Glasgow. At this time was when she met the love of her life and husband Victor Wood at the dance hall.
Eileen was a nurse in Edinburgh, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1970 with her husband and 2 children. She was an active member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s League where she participated in many of the church functions and events.
She loved to sit outside to enjoy her garden and the sounds of the birds. She also enjoyed her tea, biscuits and Irish music.
Eileen was a very strong, passionate woman and proud of her Irish heritage. The doctor informed us her final words were "I'm Irish".
There will be visitation at Accettone Funeral Home, 384 Finley Avenue, Ajax on January
5, 2026 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM. A funeral and mass will follow at St. Bernadette's Catholic
Church, 21 Bayly Street East, Ajax on January 6, 2026 at 10:00AM.
In lieu of flowers please
donate to the Irish Red Cross
