John W. Love, the eldest son of 5 children,
learned responsibility early, driving a taxi at the age of 14. He studied bookkeeping in high
school; the art of making numbers dance became
one of his greatest joys. He was always happy to
give financial advice to others. The greater joy for him was his family, his sisters
and brothers,Beatrice (1930-2016), his wife and partner of 57 years, and their children Elizabeth (Tom Benson) and David (Jim Harcott) and grandchildren Alexa (Matt Joyce) and Kilian (Jessica De Gaust), all living on the West Coast. John and Beatrice visited their children often, helping with a multitude of projects. Teaching his children to play cards, both solo and crib, was a basic for being part of the family.
John worked for Sklar-Peppler in Hanover,
transferred to Ajax before going into real estate.
John loved community and helping people. Real
estate was a perfect fit, eventually owning his
own business, Ajax Realty. He sold houses that
became homes, and the owners became friends.
He worked with several generations to help find their homes.
In Hanover, John found community as a Mason. Then as a Rotarian he became the Ajax Club
President and later received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow designation. Ducky races,
pancake breakfasts and selling hams became a family-affair, instilling the importance of service with his children. John became very active with Probus, working with others as a
Charter Member to start and build the group in Ajax. He and Beatrice enjoyed many excursions with this active group. Raised Presbyterian,
John then became very involved with the Lutheran Church as his wife led music in 3 congregations over the decades.
There will be two celebrations: Thursday, June 27, 4:00 PM at Accettone Funeral Home,
384 Finley Ave, Ajax.
Family interment and celebration will be on Saturday, June 29 at 12 noon, with interment then with reception to follow at The Red House Eatery, 274 10th St. Hanover.
John will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and
community leader. His legacy of being both generous and thrifty is now a part of his familys
DNA.
Donations can be made to: Ajax Rotary Club or Rotary International.

Elizabeth and David.
Please accept my apologies for not being able to attend the memorial service for your father on Saturday,as I will be out of the country.
As you know, I have known your father for many many years, as a neighbour,as a Rotarian, as a founding member of Probus and most of all as a friend.
I miss his smile, his sense of humour and his ever willingness to help with whatever might be needed.
He was an exceptional human being.
Clarence.

I remember John both from Rotary and as a real estate agent who referred me as a home inspector. Always a modest gentleman.
