Tietze, Ian

March 1971 - January 2025
Ian Hubert Tietze (March 20, 1971-January 26, 2025) passed away unexpectedly at Lakeridge Health Centre, Oshawa, Ontario, due to complications arising from a stroke on December 15, 2024. Survived by his parents, Doris and Peter; sister Arlene and husband Michael, his nieces Taylor and Meaghan. Other family includes his uncle Neil and aunt Gayle and their families, his aunt Glenis and uncle Lionel and their families. Recognizing lifelong friend Ron, fellow manager and friend Jimmy, fellow associates Alysha (and her parents), Carla, and many other friends and colleagues who loved Ian. Ian worked at Canadian Tire for over 35 years; many of the latter years as manager of Sporting Goods and Seasonal. He was also known as "Relic" or "The Gentle Giant" and was a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise and a die-hard Leafs fan. "Don’t tell me the score, I have it recorded at home!" was his greeting for anyone phoning him on a game day. He had a green thumb and enjoyed puttering in his garden, especially tending his red pepper plants. "May the Force be with you."
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 65 Kings Crescent, Ajax, on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2 pm (it is an accessible facility, use the ramp off the west parking lot). Refreshments will be served immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Lakeridge Health Foundation "Integrated Stroke Rehabilitation Unit" or the Canadian Tire "Jumpstart" program, or a charity of your choice.
