It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kelly Rita Burton at the age of 40.
She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Lakeridge Health Ajax on August 9, 2025.
Kelly was a loving mother to Brayden, beloved daughter of John and Janice Burton, dear sister of Derek and Melanie Burton.
She is predeceased by her grandparents, George (1999) and Rita Chatterton (2010) and Eileen Burton (1990). Also her cousin Karen Chatterton Steele (2008).
She is loved and remembered by aunts, uncles and cousins from Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland.
Kelly is remembered by so many for her infectious laugh and warm smile.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Sunnybrook Health and Sciences Center, and Lakeridge Health Ajax for the excellent care that they provided to her. We are forever grateful.
We will love you forever Kelly.
Cremation has taken place.
Celebration of life to follow at a later date.

Growing up with Kelly was one of the highlights of my childhood. The good old Lakeside days and crew (in our now looking back very small school of big memories). We spent countless sleepovers at her family’s home and attended one another’s birthday parties growing up, then later working together at McDonalds and moving on from Lakeside to Exeter High. She had a light and soft approach in her that made people feel seen, and that light stayed with her as she grew into a fantastic mother, daughter, and friend to so many.
The news of her passing has left all of us heartbroken. Kelly deserved so much more time, more memories, more laughter, more love.
Kelly will always be remembered for the warmth she brought into every room, her love for those close to her, and the joy she carried so naturally. Although it has been some years, I’m forever grateful for the memories we shared and the friend she was to me. Rest easy, Kelly. You are so loved and deeply missed. Your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
