Peter Millson died peacefully on June 4 th , 2025 after a lengthy fight with Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma, a rare and aggressive type of lung cancer.
Born in 1955 and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, Peter immigrated to Canada in 1995 with his wife Nan, and children Scott, Gary and Elaine.
Although he dearly missed his much-loved Scotland, Peter settled in and built a life for himself in Canada, forging many friendships and making Ajax his home. But whenever possible he’d find time for family trips with his siblings in Scotland and family here in Canada: Cuba, Portugal, New York, Florida. No matter the location, being with his family is what matter to him the most.
Peter retired in 2020 after 25 years as an HVAC technician. Had it not been for the tragic circumstances of his diagnosis he would have enjoyed a long and happy retirement punctuated with visits from his kids and their partners Kerry (Scott), Alicia (Gary) and Phill (Elaine), his beloved granddaughter Eisla, and all his "grand-dogs". It would also have included many trips back home to Glasgow to see his auld Ma (Annie), his sister Mary, his brother Kenny, and his extended family, Billy, Megan, Ann and Ronnie: miles away, but always kept close in his heart.
In keeping with Peter's wishes, in lieu of a formal service the family invites those wishing to pay
their respects to a drop-in celebration of life on Saturday June 14 th between 11:00am-1:00pm.
While flowers are very much appreciated, the family would appreciate donations to the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and the Yee Hong Peter K. Kwok Hospice in Scarborough. Through their tireless efforts and care, Peter surpassed all expectations of his prognosis and gave his family precious additional time with him. We are forever in their debt.
